Old World Spanish-style Wines

From Jamul, California

Inspired by the old-world style wines, Spanish Peacock wines were developed in the style from the exquisite examples of red and rosé wines from northern Spain and southern France. They were specifically created to pair well with the unique cuisine of California, still alive today from the days of the Spanish Californio Ranchos. These are wines that transcend time when paired with the foods charmed by the old Rancho settlers with spices and flavors of Mexico, Spain, and southern France.

The Spanish Californio Rancho culture enjoyed imported Spanish wines with locally farmed foods, range raised cattle, and wild game. Aged in American and French oak barrels, for added complexity and structure for long bottle-aging. Long bottle aging of Spanish Peacock wines develops unique fruit, floral, earthy, and spice notes surrounded by softer tannins as they mature, promoting a long finish.

Who is Spanish Peacock?

Spanish Peacock Winery is a San Diego wholesale-only winery specializing in old-world Spanish style red and rosé wines. Located in Jamul, CA, in the foothills of East County San Diego, the vines enjoy a spectacular view of the ocean and sunsets. We do not have a tasting room or retail outlet on the premise; however, there are private wine tastings by appointment when available. All the wines add a new dimension in Spanish-style wines, grown locally, with flavors that can only come from the Jamul area and environment. They complement the unique cuisine of California Spanish history and its heritage to the Ranchos of yesteryear, a culture and cuisine still very much alive today.

With over 18 years of study, research, development, and experience in this style of unique wines, Spanish Peacock Winery brings back an almost forgotten dimension to dining in San Diego. The grapes, and wine, are estate grown in Jamul in an established, albeit small vineyard. With a focus on the highest quality of control, the wines are produced in small quantities under the close control and oversight of the vintner.

Outstanding Wines: Award Winners

Spanish Peacock Winery enters newly released wines for competitions on both the east and west coasts, such as the Five Fingers Lakes International Wine Competition in Rochester, NY, the Toast of the Coast at San Diego Del Mar, and the Orange County Commercial Wine Competition. Spanish Peacock wines continue to receive awards at every judging showing true-to-style merits and consistent quality of the wines year over year. These awards/medals are not necessarily for bragging rights but shows the consumer, the final judge, the consistency and quality of wines produced at Spanish Peacock Winery.
